Attaching Files to the Discussion Board on Blackboard

1.   Login and enter the course.

2.   Click the Discussion Board link.

3.   Click the Discussion Forum Title link where you plan to post the file.

Note: For Mac users, in order to make sure that your file uploads smoothly, you will need to do both of the following: 1. Make sure that there are no spaces in the file name, and 2. Make sure that the extension is added to the file name. (For example, in a Microsoft Word file you will most likely need to make sure that either .doc or .txt is at the end of the file name.) Files may be attached to a message in a current thread or in a new thread. Select the appropriate option below.

Attaching a Current Thread

1.   Click the title of the message you plan to reply to.

2.   Click Reply.

3.   Create your message.

4.   Click the Attach a File link under Attachments to select the proper file.

5.   Click Browse... next to Attach Local File.

6.   Select the file on your computer and click Open.

7.   Click Submit to attach the file to the message.

To check on the file attachment, click the title of the message. Click the file name at the top of the message text. Click Open to view the file. If the file is a Word file, it should open either in the browser window or in Word.

Or

1.   Click + Thread.

2.   Create your message.

3.   Click the Attach a file link under Attachments to select the proper file.

4.   Click Browse... next to Attach Local File.

5.   Select the file on your computer and click Open...

6.   Click Submit to attach the file to the message.
