Plan a Conference with Get Lit!
Get Your Conference Lit!
Say goodbye to the conventional
convention. Consider partnering with the Get
Lit! Festival by holding your spring conference in Spokane during the third week of April to
coincide with the festival. By arranging to invite specific authors or speakers
as part of the week's events, we can expand our festival offerings in ways that
will interest your conference attendees. This partnership opportunity is not
just for book- or writing-related organizations. Every year we invite nonfiction
authors to the festival to talk on the subjects about which they write. We are
thus able to partner with conferences that focus on a wide range of areas including business,
health, the environment, and so on.
In 2009, for example, the
Washington Library Association combined efforts with Get Lit! Programs to bring Jane Smiley as a headlining author.
Conference participants received discounts on tickets and had the option of
turning business into pleasure by extending their stay over the weekend so that
they could join in on panel discussions, workshops, and readings. As you will discover,
the energy surrounding our weeklong celebration of reading and writing is both
refreshing and contagious.
Spokane offers a metropolitan environment
nestled close to stunning mountain scenery. With its award-winning venues,
along with service that is both friendly and affordable, Spokane is the ideal setting for a
conference. The second largest city in Washington State, and the largest
between Seattle and Minneapolis, Spokane is home to over 200,000 residents,
with a metropolitan population of more than half a million. The city is the
medical, educational, and entertainment hub of the Inland Northwest and boasts a
myriad of cultural and recreational opportunities.
The Spokane Regional Convention and
Visitor's Bureau will help you every step of the way, from selecting and
booking hotel accommodations and meeting spaces to organizing the details of your
conference. Contact them at 1-800-662-0084.
