QPR Suicide Triage Training Course
The QPR Suicide Triage Course for university or continuing education unit credit is an online and multimedia course for all "first responders" including; crisis line workers, law enforcement, fire fighters, EMTs, clergy, case managers, correctional personnel, school counselors, residential staff, and others who come in contact with people at risk for suicide.
QPR stands for Question, Persuade and Refer, an emergency mental health intervention for suicidal persons created by Paul Quinnett, and first described in 1995 via presentations and publications by the QPR Institute.
Why learn QPR?
Suicidal people often send warning signs that they are in trouble. To save a life from suicide, learn these warning signs and how to respond with a positive, bold, life-saving intervention. Remember: you may be the only person in position to recognize warning signs and take life-saving action.
Why QPR?
QPR Saves Lives! QPR - Question, Persuade, and Refer -- 3 simple steps that anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone for help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying "Yes" to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor. QPR can be learned in our Gatekeeper course in as little as one hour.
